Wanting to learn English? then....
Welcome to Edinburgh
Living with a family is the easiest way to learn a foreign language, and Edinburgh provides a brilliant location to do just that.

Learning English doesn't need to be hard work
Learning English from a grammar book can be hard work, but coming to Edinburgh and living as part of a family means that you are learning constantly and more efficiently. You also learn about our customs and can enjoy the social life that Edinburgh has to offer. 1 week on a 1:1 course probably equates to about 4 weeks in a classroom with 10 others. On a 1:1 or 2:1 course I can ensure that the course is designed to suit your level and needs.
What I Offer

Teaching
1:1 or 2:1 teaching in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Courses structured to individual student's needs. Beginners to advanced tuition. Help with preparation for exams, working on general conversation to enable you to travel abroad, or perhaps you need Business English for work. Lessons are in the morning and can include some activity-based lessons.

Service
I enjoy cooking and baking, so I am never sure if my students return for my teaching or my cooking! Inspiration for meals can come from many countries, although being Irish I do include a number of classic British dishes. We sometimes have friends around for a meal and this is a great opportunity for students to practice their newly learnt vocabulary and grammar.
Scottish ceilidhs, visits to castles, distilleries or breweries are always enjoyed.

Accommodation
Situated on the south side of Edinburgh, in a quiet residential area about a 25 minute walk to the city centre or a 10 minute bus ride, there are 2 double bedrooms available for students. The 2 rooms share a bathroom, with a bath and overhead electric shower. Each bedroom has a desk and chair, TV and DVD. There is wifi and car parking is available. Transfers to and from the airport can be arranged.

10 hours/week £1000/ £900p/p
15 hours/week £1100 / £1000p/p

About me
I am a mature woman, originally from Ireland, who has been living in Edinburgh for 40 years. I live with my husband and have 3 grown up children who occasionally pop in. I started taking students when my 3rd child was born, he is now in his 30's!
I enjoy travelling with my husband and as he is the historian he keeps me informed about that side of things. We are both active, I love cycling and walking especially where there is a dog involved! We look after guide dogs that work with blind people. They stay with us when they cannot stay with their owners. They may be with us for 1 night or 1 month. They are very friendly and well behaved and all my students, even those who are nervous of dogs, are sad to leave and say goodbye to them. My other passion is cooking and baking. Please don't hope to loose weight while staying with me! If you have any specific dietary requirements please let me know.
